Our Approach
Candid Wedding Films
Bloom Films
Natural direction. Real moments. A film that feels like your day actually felt. That's how we've always worked and it's why people keep coming back to watch.
What Candid Means
Direction That Feels Natural
We do direct. But not in a way that feels forced or awkward. Our direction is designed so you feel at ease, relaxed, and like you're just enjoying your day. Think gentle guidance, not choreography.
The hug your dad gives you when you're getting ready. Your best friend crying during the speech. The quiet moment before you walk out. The way your partner's face changes when they see you. Some of these happen on their own. Others, we'll guide you into naturally so the moment feels real, because it is.
We've filmed over 400 weddings. We know exactly where to be and when. We know how to suggest something without it feeling like an instruction. The skill is in making direction invisible, so the film looks and feels like your day actually felt.
★★★★★
"At no point did we ever feel like we were being posed too much or stolen from our guests. Their guidance felt natural and our poses felt organic. It was truly bliss."

This is what it looks like when you let the day unfold.
Why It Works
Why Couples Love
Candid Films
01
It looks real
Because it is. No staged walks, no fake laughs. What you see is what happened. You'll recognise your own day in the film.
02
People relax
When direction feels natural, everyone just enjoys the day. You stop performing and start being. That's what shows in the film.
03
You notice things you missed
The film catches moments you didn't see in real time. Your partner's face when you walked in. Your grandma on the dancefloor. Your mate absolutely losing it during the speeches.
04
It ages well
Trends come and go. A film that's just honest about what happened, that captures real emotions and real moments? That holds up ten, twenty, fifty years from now.
How We Work
Invisible on the Day.
Obvious in the Film.
We use small, quiet gear. No big rigs, no lights in your face during the ceremony, no massive crew. We move through the day like guests who know how to be useful without being intrusive. We know when to be close and when to give space.
We shoot long. We don't just grab the obvious moments and leave. Some of the best footage comes from the in-between. The walk from the ceremony to the reception. The conversation between your parents at dinner. These quiet pockets of time are where the real feeling of your day lives.
The edit brings it all together. Music, pacing, colour grading. It's candid footage, but the film itself is crafted and considered. The result is a wedding film that feels natural and unforced, but shaped with intention and skill.
Candid Wedding Films FAQ
How much do you actually direct on the day?
More than you'd expect, but less than you'd notice. We guide you through moments in a way that feels easy and natural. If there's something specific you want, like a sunset walk or a first look, we'll set that up too. The goal is always for you to feel relaxed, not directed.
What if we're awkward on camera?
That's exactly why we work the way we do. Our direction is designed to put you at ease, not make you perform. Most couples tell us it just felt like hanging out, and that's when the film gets really good.
Is candid the same as documentary?
They overlap. Documentary usually means a longer, more chronological edit that preserves more of the actual timeline. Candid is more about how we shoot on the day. All our films are candid in how we capture them, whether the final edit is cinematic or documentary in style.
Do you work with photographers who direct?
All the time. We stay out of each other's way. If your photographer wants to do some posed portraits, we'll film something else and come back for the natural moments. We've learnt to work around that perfectly.
